I just strap my Rick to a Yamaha drum seat with 2 small bungy's. It's quite heavy and thus very stable and with a low center of gravity there is no tendancy to tip over. I can raise it to whatever height of the chair I'm sitting on. Flexible, solid and SAFE.
I tried one once - it is REALLY FOR DOBRO.
I sent it back. Won't work for lap steel. The jig that holds the instrument is a curved piece of metal intended to clamp the body of a guitar (dobro). It let's you tilt it and position it.
I use a $39 'x' stand , aka Ultimate Support keyboard X stand. Wrap the top bars with some foam rubber and it's really sturdy.
