I'm sure I read somewhere that this is OK but just want to be sure. If I use the pre amp out in the back of my Nashville 400 to the board and disconnect the speaker in the amp is this going to damage the amp ?
The reason I need to do this as I have to work in a small studio with no amp booth.
What I used to do was connect the preamp out to the recording board, then put a guitar cord in the Power Amp in jack and leave the other end loose. That disconnects the preamp from the power amp but you don't remove the power amp "load" and chance destroying something.
It is safe to run a SS amp without any load. (and yes, I am sure) Though, I much prefer to cut the power amp input as Jack and Fred have said...because it's quicker. In my past studios we just stuck an un-used Switchcraft 1/4" plug into the power amp input jack...all done.
