Eric Heywood's Set Up

Post by Jeff Watson »

Does anybody know what Eric Heywood was using for an amp (or other equipment) during his work with Son Volt? Thanks, Jeff

I can tell you that when I interviewed him for now defunct Steel Guitar World Magazine in August 1998 he was using a Vox AC50 w/some kind of 2x12" cabinet. He showed me an Electro-Harmonix Hot Tubes overdrive pedal but don't think he was using it on the gig. At that time he was still playing the Williams (D10 but he only had the E9 neck strung up).

I really like his stuff w/Richard Buckner, esp. when it's been just him and Buckner live. On one track on the RB album "Since" - I forget just now which one - he said JD Foster had him use one of those "Smokey" amps, you know the things built in the cigarette packs. Sorry to ramble as this doesn't really answer your question...

below is a pic with Eric playing w/Jay Farrar solo.

On the contrary Greg, thank you much for just the info I was looking for. A Vox AC50 and Smokey amps. Wow. Cool stuff.
Thanks again, Jeff
[This message was edited by Jeff Watson on 15 January 2002 at 10:11 PM.]
