Steve Howe of "Yes" on a 1950's dbl-8 Fender!!!

I just went to a "Yes" concert with full symphony on 5AUG01, and took my family (my daughters birthday). Steve Howe played wonderfully, with his style of course, a dbl-8 Fender. He played "And You And I", "Gates of Delerium", and a 3rd song I don't remember the title with this steel. Of course he played 2 acoustic guitars and 5 electric guitars, and an odd mandolin. Has anyone else had the pleasure to seeing this multi-guitar virtuoso?

I had the pleasure of seeing YES here at the Hollywood Bowl just a few days before the show you saw. Very exciting to see the steel used with that music. "Gates of Delerium" is a song I never thought I'd live to see played live. Great steel! Weird, but great!

Steve Howe is a treasure.

I have an old solo album by Steve Howe that pictured all his guitars on the inside cover. Very cool collection. He recorded some PSG on that album...the name escapes me. I had no idea he travelled with a steel. I think he was recently in town. Damn. Didn't really even think about going.

Aha, now I understand ! Several years ago I produced a CD in Geneva, Switzerland. It was a project featuring the owner of the studio there. Steve is a personal friend of this guy and was asked to play some guitar parts on it. I also played steel on this recording and Steve asked me a lot of questions about the instrument. He was totally intrigued by it !
He was a blast to record with and a very nice person.

As a matter of fact the whole production was interesting. I had the former fiddle player of Ricky Van Shelton, Patrick Bruel's (French rockstar)guitarplayer,Phil Collin's percussion, a keyboardplayer who recorded with Mick Jagger on it, and Jermaine Jackson on backing vocals.
Quite a crew and an unforgettable experience.

Must have been a great session. Phil Collins was one of my favorite drummers when he was with "Genesis". In fact I even saw my 2 favorite "R&R" drummers play together (when Peter Gabriel left "Genesis" for his solo career) when "Genesis" was touring with Phil Collins (vocals/drums) and Bill Bruford (drums replacing Phil)!! I saw the best "Firth of Fifth" ever done with those 2 going back and forth together!!
