Unknown file extension...

Post by Donny Hinson »

I just received some pictures in an e-mail, but the files have a ".cps" extension. Does anyone know what application will allow me to view these pictures?

If your using windows you may be able to right click on the icon and do a "save as" when the place to store it pops up you can try to just change the ext to jpeg or gif. Most of the time this works. Then re open new file.

Donny-- the '.cps' file extension MIGHT be for 'ColorPostScript' which is a graphic type. You can try whatever multi-purpose viewers you have. You can download 'PolyView' from www.zdnet.com/downloads/ Typing the name in the 'search box' on that page will present you with a description of the program and a 'download' link. If you need help in 'unzipping' and/or installing, drop me a note.

You might find a reference to it in windows explorer ~view, folder options, file types...

Or run regedit, and select edit, find next. Type the extension # in and run.

Be careful not to "bump into" anything while you're in there!

Thanks guys! I have found out that ".cps" is a COREL photoshop extension. I'll take it into where I work, and convert it into a JPEG. Then it can be viewed it anywhere.

Corel must have a proprietary codec...nothing else I tried would open it!

You can close this thread now, b0b!

Hi Donny, if those pictures you're talking about are the ones I think maybe you shouldn't bother trying to get at them. They'll scare the pants off you. Image Image Image
