Tuner Maintenence

Post by Jay Kardong »

Hello,

I was going to pull apart my Fender D-8 to give it a good cleaning. When I pull the pots, is there any type of 'gear oil' I should/could use on the tuners to get them good and lubricated without damaging them? I doubt WD-40 is a good option Image

Thanks
Jay

Hey Jay. I gather from your smiley face that you don't need to be told that WD40 ain't no tuner lube. I applied some white lithium grease pretty liberally to the moving parts on the underside of my tuner pans. Let's both wait and see what other folks think about that.

Hey Jon, yeah, the only thing WD-40 seems to be good for I found is making a bigger mess.

I use teflon impregnated bicycle chain lube...(can't remember the name)...it come with a very small dropper, and doesn't take very much at all.

Mikel, maybe the stuff you use is called "Tri-Flow". Good product.
