Independent Resophonics Anonymous CD Review

Here's a nice piece that the listowner of the ResoGuit Mailing List posted about the new Resophonics Anonymous CD...

It's rare that us reso heads have an opportunity to hear a multitude of
styles and players, on one disc. If we're talking resonator guitars you had
only two recordings:

"That Dobro Sound Going Round" (One of THE worst listening experiences,
IMHO)
"The Great Dobro Sessions" (Who does _not_ own a copy of this and all the
tablature??)

I am giddy to report that there is now a third volume:

"Resophonics Anonymous"

This project is good to go from the front cover (you have to see it) to the
tongue in cheek (I paraphrase) "We wish the following players could have
been with us...yada, yada!"

Between the covers, the meat of the matter are 18 cuts featuring 9 players,
all making music on the Pacific coast, in the U.S. and Canada:

Doug Cox
Michael Dunn
Orville Johnson
Marty Lepore
Mike Lundstrom
Sue Murphy
Fairly Sparks
Tab Tabscott
Chuck Togstad

Of these, I own recordings by Doug and Sue. Tab and Orville are known to me
by reputation only.

What the Reso Anon folks have managed to do is to showcase the resonator
guitar playing everything from string band to Broadway, and everything in
between.

Of particular delight is that the instrumentation includes wood body, metal
body and Weissenborn.

There are far too many high points in the 18 tunes and I refuse to pick a
favorite. I will say that there is material here that _I_ intend to
steal!!! I have given fair warning!!!

It all boils down to this!! Buy it!

Now I'm a thinkin' now that some of us east coasters should take up the
challenge and come up with our own project.....hmmm!!

This disc is distributed by Resophonics Anonymous. For info contact:

Yep...I paid for my copy just like you all are about to do. :-)
