Dick McIntire CD

Post by Bob Stone »

Thanks to fellow Forumites I have had the opportunity to hear a good sampling of this master's work. Dick is certainly one of the all-time greats. But there are no CDs of his playing.

As many of you know, Michael Cord has produced many CD reissues from old Hawaiian 78s. He is interested in providing the music his audience wants to hear. Maybe if enough of us Email him urging him to issue a Dick McIntire CD he'll do it. Here's his Email address and website URL:

I've emailed Michael Cord about this and also suggested a 'Greatest Hits' CD of Jules Ah See. He replied that these projects are in the works. Maybe more emails would hurry things along.

I think Cord International or maybe Harlequin or Arhoolie are the only hopes for reissuing these. Dancing Cat it seems is focusing on slack key and a little bit of acoustic steel.

There are so many monumental recordings that exist only in collector's 78 libraries. These need to be preserved and shared with the world before breakage, neglect or ignorance on the part of future owners let these disappear forever.
[This message was edited by Gerald Ross on 30 June 2000 at 10:45 AM.]

Looks like the Dick McIntire re-issue by Cord is going to happen! Stay tuned.
