Mind if I just ask a question???

Post by Missy James »

Okay, so I'm not a no-pedaller, but I'm the next best thing! I just purchased an MSA Sidekick to learn on that has three pedals and one knee. My first goal was to learn Tom Brumley's steel ride from the original Buckaroo. However, tab shows that the second string needs to be lowered a half step with a knee lever that I do not possess. I found that by angling the bar across frets that I can achieve the desired pitches (although not consistently in tune at this point). I'm finding that when I do angle the bar, there is a certain tone loss that happens. Am I doing something wrong, or can it be done better????

Thanks. P.S. *blush* *very quiet voice* You guys do angle your bar when you play, don't you????????

We would twist the bar sometimes, but probably not to lower the 2nd string.

You could probably change you knee lever so that it lowers the 2nd sting, (and also the 8th string, which it probably does already).

Doesn't that one lever lower the E's (4 and 8)? I would think that change needs to stay.
