Tonight The Heartache's On Me
In the Dixie Chicks's version of this song, on (I believe the second chorus), there is a great lick where there are notes moving up as the bar decends. I know a number of these licks (like the famous Emmons one on strings 9,8 and 7) but I can't seem to find this particular one. Has anyone taken the time to figure it out? Thanks in advance. Boo

This lick, at 1:53, to me sounds suspiciously like a lick I copped from Lloyd Maines' steel work on Dale Watson's album "I hate these songs". In the cut "I think of you", which is in "C", at about the 1:30 mark, Lloyd does something like this:
G7
1------------------|---------
2------------------|---------
3------------------|---------
4---------1~~~~3---|-10~~10--etc
5------3~~1(a~~3---|-10~~10a-
6------3~~~~~~~3---|---------
7------------------|---------
8--7~~~3-----------|---------
9------------------|---------
10-----------------|---------
I think the Dixie Chick Lick is some variation of that, although their tune is in F, and Lloyd uses it to go from I-IV, so
it would be the same strings/levers, but start on fret 17 instead of 7.
I could be wrong. What do you think ?
Joe? Boo ?
Another thing I've noticed, imho, Lloyd Maines has consistently great tone, to my ears. uh huh!
Terry, check out buddy's accompaniment to Judy Collins "Someday Soon", and you'll hear the mind-bending lick.
