2 5 1's for Pedal Steel a Panacea for Two-five-one-itis

Post by Jeff Rady »

Hello,

I'm Jeff Rady from Littleton, CO. Like thousands of Americans I suffer from two-five-oneitis. Sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night sweating with the melody of Autumn Leaves and old men telling me to "play the 3rd mode of melodic minor" (god only knows what is). On the band stand I'll hope and pray that if a progression has a 2 chord then a 5 chord that it will resolve on a 3 chord or even just a b7! In certain company I'll catch myself saying that I like to listen to Charlie Parker or Dexter Gordon's "Our Man In Paris", but I know I never do and would much prefer listening to the Black album by Metallica. If you share any of these symptoms do not despair I have the perfect panacea for you!

In this video 2 5 1's for Pedal Steel you learn to love the progression again, delight in the myriad ways I show you to get through the progression. I show you not only the Lloyd Maines, "double sugar foot" minor chord, but also how to use the Franklin Pedal and other choice pedals and knee levers.
