JDA Peterson Sweetener

Post by Nate Biehl »

Can anyone tell me more about the JDA Sweetener that’s on the Peterson exchange? I’ve tried searching the forum a number of times and nothing seems to come up.

The description at the Peterson website says that it’s based on the tuning of a legend and forum member, but that’s about all the information I could find. I like the way it sounds and I’d be interested to know more about the offsets/sweetening if anyone has the story!

Perhaps Jeff Agnew?

There are only two options as I see it.
Either I'm right, or there is a sinister conspiracy to conceal the fact that I'm right.

The description says it's JayDee Maness' tuning, I just didn't know if it was actually his sweetener or someone else made it and called it that, so I was being kind of intentionally vague. I was hoping some civilian could confirm that without having to bug a veteran.

The description is correct, JDA is Jay Dee Maness' own Sweetener, he kindly gave us permission to include it as a stock preset in the Peterson StroboPLUS HDC, it's also on our Shared page for users of any other USB-enabled Peterson tuner models.
Jay Dee always visits us at the Peterson booth at NAMM, here he is with Sue Haslam and Jim Palenscar.

I also got in on the action :D

OK, thanks John! Really cool to have that confirmed!

Do you happen to know if it's set up for tuning pedals and levers as well as open strings?

My understanding is that everything is in there, open strings, raises and lowers.
Jim Palenscar would probably have more insight.

He makes my head spin every time I watch him play. Has he ever explained his reasoning for the setup?
Carter D10 8p/7k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup, Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112, Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open G slide and regular G tuning guitar) .

Playing for 55 years and still counting.
