Tonex Users Considering A New Computer with Windows 11

Post by Barry Yasika »

Since support for Windows 10 is ending and my current PC’s CPU isn’t compatible with Windows 11, I decided to buy a new laptop. After setting it up, I downloaded the product manager, logged into my IK Multimedia account, and attempted to install the TONEX software. That’s when I hit a snag: I kept receiving error messages saying the software wouldn’t run on the current version of Windows—despite it being Windows 11.

After some back-and-forth with IK support, I learned that the issue wasn’t Windows 11 itself, but my laptop’s CPU. It’s a 64-bit ARM-based processor, which operates more like a mobile chip than the standard PC or Mac CPUs. In short, the ARM architecture is the root of the compatibility problem.

I asked whether there were plans to issue a revision that supports ARM processors, but the tech could only say he’d pass along the request. As of now, he’s not aware of any such plans.

So this isn’t exactly a warning—more of a heads-up if you’re considering upgrading. It looks like I’ll be using my Windows 10 machine from time to time for the foreseeable future, which isn’t too big a deal (yet).

Good to know Barry. Seems the computer world has injected it's own set of problems. Thanks for the info.
