Recommendations for New player
I would like to learn a pedal steel. I had previously a Emmons S-10 student model. I sold it as it was very frustrating to me. Since then have started playing a Reso guitar and now that has piqued my interest again. Any suggestions where I might start? Any suggestions as to what steel to purchase? Thankyou, Bryan

Can pretty much guarantee that the first one you buy now won't be the last...buy used, on the forum, and you will get a good instrument that you can sell for pretty much what you paid when you see other musical stuff opening up for you...

As a fairly new player myself, I can wholeheartedly recommend a Stage One PSG. Reasonably priced new or used; they play easily and sound great. Apparently they are very well thought of in the PSG world. I’m really enjoying mine. Good luck in your quest!

Thank you everybody for your recommendations. Since I'm trying to get back in to it, I'm trying to limit my budget to the 1000$ range. I have the opprutunity to get a Carter double neck, but it is too much for me. I'm not sure I can handle a single let alone a double.Thank you all, Bryan

$1,000 is pretty far on the low end. I might save up my money to at least double that. I can't imagine you are going to have much luck finding a steel you will enjoy and not cause you headaches at that price.
That said: Michael Lee Allen has a stage one listed at $1250. Pickup in chicago only though.
