Dual pro tuner repair

Is anyone repairing Dual Pro tuners these days? Searching only turned up old threads. only need one gear replaced, if that's possible. Any help would be appreciated.

I saw that post as well, had a pickup failing on my '51 so getting that fixed is prompting me to try to repair a tuner I've been fighting for a while.

Thor, about 20 years ago, on my dual pro, I had a two tuners that quit working, and one actually had the weld joint break loose. Actually, I took my tuner to an automotive restoration shop, the ones that restore vintage autos and trucks. In my case, I found a couple of replacement turners, here on the forum. The owner of the shop was a family friend, but he replaced the tuners and fixed the broken joint. I know it would not be something that a restoration shop normally doesn't do, but they have the skill, and that may be an option for you.
I'd still would try to find an actual steel guitar guy that does these type of repairs, but in my case I went a different direction for the simple reason I couldn't find anyone. Perhaps these days, with more interest on the old non pedal steels, we have better access to steel guitar repair.

If I can't find anybody who has done these I will probably go that route. The one that's bad looks like the weld failed and someone put it back together less than perfectly, allowing some slack in the gears. It appears as if it might work if I can get it properly alligned. Tempted to try myself but my torch skills are dubious at best.
