I have an early Fender Console Twin that the case strap just broke. I need to replace it with something similar or an identical strap. Anyone have any suggestions? I haven't looked online yet.
Thanks.
It looks as if strap holders have rivets. Not too sure how to replace either, I don't have a rivet gun.
I wonder if I can peal back the felt/fur on the inside of the case, remove the rivets and replace with nut/bolt assembly, maybe with a bolt head resembling the rivet head???
There are no more luggage repair shops where I live in eastern Washington/northern Idaho anymore. I used to get all this vintage stuff fixed from a shop, but not anymore.
How authentic do you need the handle to be? Sheeran Enterprises has a wide range of replacement Fender handles, some of which are referred to as "emergency handles" (probably because they use buckles rather than being riveted to the case).
Thanks Brad for the info. I seen a couple of handles online that are similar to the original-and I'll probably go with one of them. I think I can lift the inside fabric up away from the wood case without ripping the fabric to get at the back side of the rivets. Not sure about using rivets again as I'd have to buy a gun. Might look into a small finished head bolt and nut in place of the rivet.
Although I just looked at the Sheeran Enterprises site Emergency handles that may work. My case rivets and metal handle holders are in great shape, really just need a handle.
So might just get their Emergency handle and attach it.
