I certainly like mine - in fact I have 2. The pickups can be a bit microphonic but otherwise I love them.

I started on a triple neck version of that guitar. I traded that in on my first pedal steel. Later, a wife bought me a double neck version. I thought they were awesome guitars.

Never played one myself, but in the right hands I think they sound really good and can be had for half the price (or less) of a comparable Fender. If you're on Facebook, here is my fiend RL Rainwater sounding fabulous on his. They did come in red so the one you're looking at may be the original finish, but I don't think that matters much for the Nationals. Price might be a shade high but not unreasonably so. $1000 would be a fair price.

Thanks Mick...
I like the tone you're getting - particularly the low notes.
Nicely done!
Thanks for your response.

Since the tuner cover plates are red, I'm guessing that red was the original color of this one. Could that be true? I had one and loved it. I was a fool to sell it.Noah Miller wrote:That's not a crazy price for one that's all original, but given the red refinish, I think the asking price is quite high.

Nope, definitely not original. Both the red and black is a matte texture (like paint, not lacquer) and a lot cleaner than the metal hardware.Eric Dahlhoff wrote:Since the tuner cover plates are red, I'm guessing that red was the original color of this one.
