Boss DD-3 Set Up

What steps do I take to set up my Boss DD-3 affects pedal to my Quilter TT-12 amp. I have a Williams SD-10 psg and A Hilton volume pedal.

Hey Jerry, there's no right or wrong sequence, it just depends on what you like to hear. Having said that, you'll get the least distortion from the Boss DD-3 with the setup below, which requires 3 cables. On the DD-3, use the Input and Output jacks and leave the Direct Out jack empty. You can power it with either an internal 9V alkaline battery (around 11 hours of service before replacing), or an external 9V DC power supply like a TrueTone One Spot.

Steel out >> Volume pedal in
Volume pedal out >> Boss DD-3 in
Boss DD-3 out >> TT-12 in

Be aware that your TT-12 can take a quite high input signal level without distorting (around 5 volts) while the Boss DD-3 is designed for regular guitar and might start to distort at lower signal levels. If you hear distortion from the Boss when you reach full toe-down volume pedal, you might want to consider a different delay pedal that can handle the the higher signals from your steel. Other forum members might have suggestions on which ones those might be, so let us know if this is a problem for you.
