My Harmos Lap Steel...20 years old Today.

Post by Terry VunCannon »

One of my favorite lap steels, my Harmos Model One. Made June 15, 2004. 20 years old today. Ahead of its time.

The tuning system didn't work for me and I sent mine back. cool but uncomfortable and unwieldy without the stand.

Bill, I ordered mine with standard tuners. Works great. It also seems easy to play in a stand or in my lap. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

An innovative design for sure - but just too weird looking for me - I couldn’t wrap my head around it so I never bought one.

I recall Robert Randolph had both a lap and pedal version. Jerry Douglas had one that he used on a couple recordings years ago.
