Horseshoe magnetization

Post by Glenn Wilde »

I have a Cole Clark with a horseshoe but i dont think they magnetized the shoes, i know they're steel and may have a tiny bit of magnetism but, if any,it ain't much. The poles are magnetized for sure and i like how it sounds now but I'm wondering if it will be better, and how to do it. I'm guessing there could be phase issues?

If it is a lapdog like this I had one a while ago, due to only having a volume I let it go. In retrospect it is crying out for a tone control to open up it's potential.

The steel has to be heat treated … hardened … in order for it to retain magnetism after the magnetizing force is removed. It has to have a relatively high carbon content …

Heat treated “magnet steel” will retain its charge for 40+ years … so if they are dead … they may be mild steel (not heat treatable) … ???
