Out of sinc

When I dub a videocassette tape to a DVD on my DVD recorder the audio and video get out of sinc with each other and sometimes the video won't play at all but the audio is great, Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks

are the video tapes commercial made videos or one's you shot yourself. If they are commercial videos like movies they have copy protection on them that can cause different issues to pop up in trying to make copies.
