Q: recording steel with PodXT Pro
Anyone have experience recording or playing live with the Line 6 PodXT Pro (rack mount unit)? How's it sound, how easy is it to record with?

I think that is basically the same as the POD XT and has the same effects/preamps, etc.
I've recorded the last several sessions with just the POD XT directly to the board. I used is on a 10 song Demo session that I did for Jimmy Peppers (semi-retired Nashville songwriter and producer) and I used it on a new steel CD that I'm working on. I record both channels from the POD XT into two tracks on Sonar and then mix them left and right on the mixdowns.

Hi John,
I've been using an original pod 2.0 for about 12 years both as a front end to my Webb and as a direct for recording. It works great in both instances.

Hi John,
Rick (Schmidt) turned me on to using the POD as a preamp when I wanna travel light. Sometimes I use it w/ a Nashville 400 with great results. I use the "preamp" model which gives me the effects & a nice clean EQ. I have also used it with my ProTools and gotten good results - tho I still prefer a direct out of my Stereo Steel to the POD - it is just too good! Nonetheless I agree with Rick that the POD is still a very useful option.
