I want to use BIAB for making basic tracks bass & drums and want to save these tracks as mp3 files in the hard drive or another flash card etc. ... can I save what I create from the BIAB 2009 program as mp3's without the Power Tracks Pro Audio program? if so, what are the advantages of having the Power Tracks Pro Audio program?

Dale-You can do that . But Power tracks is a nice little recording program. You can convert BIAB to a Wave , put it in PT and record your steel with the Biab Backup, or just practice with it. When you get one you like, you can save the take, then burn a CD if you want...al.

Thanks Al....its a real learning curve as the technology changes so fast, its hard to keep up with all the different programs and what they do...I keep learning and reading and getting info from the forum and other sources and hopefully make the right purchase's for what I want to do...
I just visited your web site Al, I really enjoyed the tour ... I too played a lot of big band songs when I was younger but not on the steel guitar, just a straight 6 string, great music..thanks again..

Dale......
If you are using the VSC-DXi soft synth in BIAB as your sound engine, you can do a direct rendering to wav then save it on your computer. That version of BIAB I believe came with Real Band as well. Open the wav file in Real Band, and then then resave it as an MP3 file, or get the free Audacity program and record it live from BIAB to Audacity and export it as an MP3 file as well. Lots of options, depending on your sound source etc. Any tracks you don't want saved from the BIAB recording, just mute them and should not be rendered. Going into Real Band allows you the ability to mix and master each track with audio effects as well.
