midi interface

Post by Bo Legg »

I’m trying to hook up a midi converter to BIAB using a midi interface.
I would like to have some help on this. Thanks. Here is the whole deal.

Do it work at all?

Do you have anything else that is MIDI that you can check the MIDI/USB adapter to make sure it's working?

There are a number of things in your midi path.

Does the usb/midi device work at all? Some of them require that you install the software before you plug in the device. Otherwise it won't work.

Is the usb/midi device recognized by BIAB. Is it visible in the control panel/sounds and audio devices? In Cubase, you have to enable the midi ports you want to use. I don't have BIAB but there may be a setting to choose the ports you want to use.

Without anything plugged into the midi interface, the device should be visible to BIAB. Then anything midi should work.

Make sure the midi channel settings are correct.

Jack, I don't have anything else that hooks up midi to test that.
Jon, your right the should be a disc for the interface. But I thought the computer was suppose to recognize the new hardware and ask for the drivers and or disc.
I don't know how to install hardware that the computer ignores.

One of the devices that I have (M-Audio Midisport 2x2) instructed me to install the drivers, then plug in the device, let it be found, then let it be installed. That worked properly.
If you don't have the driver, you can get it here
