Help in re-mixing and re-mastering demo's

Post by Ron ! »

Lot's off steel players want to make their own home recording but don't have the equipment to do so.Most of the time the demo is done and people don't like the overall sound of this demo. Then the possibility is there that these demo's are made with a little tape deck.Hardly anyone plays tapes at home no more. That leaves you with a tape demo that you cannot play for anyone.Plus the fact that you probably don't like the sound of the demo.

Rescue is here

I have done many recordings over the years and after numerous mails in which people ask me if I could help them out in mastering and remixing I decided to make myself available for that.
I can transfer tape demo's to cd and vice versa.Mono tapes and cd's can be transfered into stereo.
You will receive a studio recording. If it is one song or a whole cd....all can be done.
If you have any questions or suggestions feel free to mail me at,

On the bottom I posted two versions of a song that was send to me from Europe. This was done in a profesional studio.
The first one is what I received and the second sample is the end result.Judge for yourself.

The remix does not sound nearly as good as the original source mix which sounds fantastic. What did you do to it?

Ron. I got your email.

You asked for opinions on the remix you did. You did not ask for opinions on a "Dry" sound. Do I like a dry sound? Not necessarily but sometimes it is just fine. If all I have to pick from is the original mix you put up which sound 100 times more natural/acoustic and clear and very present sounding as opposed to the way you mixed it which sounds like the track is coming from somewhere in the distance, most of the acoustic quality of it has been sucked out, and the lead instrument sounds like some thin tinny electric thing now, then yes I prefer the dry sound of the original. Your remix that YOU asked for opinions on, is worlds different than the original which I prefer and think that in the context of the style of the song/music it needed none of what you did to it. You would have been better off if you had taken the original mix and added just a touch of verb overall on that if you thought the track was too dry.
If you do your research on period sounding music of which this track is touching on, you will not find "wet" tracks at all. Only the sound of the room is usually heard in the ambiance of the recording.
Adding modern plug in EQ and digital verbs and all that is just not necessary.

You asked for an opinion and I gave you mine. It is just an opinion. If your client liked it and you got paid, it makes no difference at all.
