Vince Gill waltz on PSG

I've done a PSG version of a Vince Gill song 'Love Never Broke Anyone's Heart' HERE

The lower register of my steel sounds ok, but the upper register is sounding a bit harsh, I can't seem to find a happy medium

I'm off work today, the weather is inclement, I'm bored, so I've done this same tune on my other two steels, (Emmons and Denley) to compare their tones.

I thought the Emmons had the best overhaul sound followed by the Denley, didn't care for the sound of the ZB. And yes Richard, the higher register sounded a little thin and strained on the ZB. Glad you are still posting.

The Emmons sounds the best. It sounds Fuller, and a nicer tone to my ears. There is just more sound there. The Denly and ZB sound thin by comparison.

- And I am assuming you are using the same exact settings for each???

Possibly the Emmons has the best balance between lower, middle and higher registers, but it's also the least interesting, it doesn't grab my attention.
I would say: the lower register, I like the transparent sound of the ZB, the middle register, the Emmons, and the high register the Denley.
If I could pick one, it would be the Denley.

You know what would be neat? Is if you blocked the screen so we cant see the steel - just label them 1, 2, and 3. Then people can guess which one is the emmons, etc. They can also pick which one they think is the best in sort of a blind taste-test. That would be cool. You would have to do it on another song though, cause we all know what is what on this one.

I recorded the audio onto 'Audacity', as the videos were streaming, and synchronised the tracks.

This makes it easier to compare the tones, as tracks can be muted .

It also makes for an unusual 'chorusy' sound when all three tracks are played back simultaneously
