Recording Harps

Post by Larry Beck »

I need some advice on Mikes and in particular placement for recording classical harp sounds. I'm recording a children's choir with piano and harp accompanyment in a big bouncy room. (A Capitol rotunda)
Do you aim at the strings, the soundboard or what? There will be barely time to set levels so I won't be able to experiment.

Thanks Joey,
The tip about wraping a mike and putting it in the sound hole may work. There will be a lot of ambient sounds plus the choir.
