Keyboard with BIAB

Post by Dave Seddon »

I looked for a thread but couldn't find one. I have connected my Kawai keyboard to the computer via the midi port on the soundcard and when I try to record with the track there is a lot of latency, I mean a good handfull of milliseconds. Is there a cure for this. I have a T Box midi interface that I tried but I can't get anything out of that at all. I'm afraid I'm a bit on the thick side when it comes to this stuff. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers Dave.

Dave,
I had this problem too and it can be fixed. Problem is, I forget exactly how.

I know I set my keyboard to use the VSC DXI synthesizer as recommended by the BIAB people. I suggest you read the help files thoroughly, and if your still stumped, contact PG Music and they'll walk you through it.

Good Luck,

Thanks Phil, I just got one of the new X-Fi cards, the only trouble is its got a 26 pin socket rather than the 15 pin so I can't use that. Things just ain't going my way!! At this rate I think it will be cheaper to buy my rhythm tracks. Cheers Dave.

Not necessarily Dave, you can still punch in the chords and play along with a Rhythm section. Personally, I don't use the MIDI keyboard at all--I just type in a chord progression, choose a style and play to that. There's no melody--just a rhythm section--but that works fine for practice.
