DVD Camera for a cheapo

Post by Stuart Legg »

I want to put together a music video DVD.
I want fairly good sound quality. Does anyone know of an inexpensive camera that will do the job? This is a project mostly for my own use and I don't want to spend a lot on equipment.

Do you have a price range ?

I did a small experiment earlier this year, I started with cheap Kodak camera's for under $100 which record in wmv format, they had lousy video and cruddy sound.

I stepped up to a Canon, A540, unlimited recording time based on the SD card size and it records in 3 or 4 different video formats (.avi) the sound is clean.( mono) I believe the Camera was $159 or so at Wallmart. The new similar Canon model is the A560 @ $150. I am talking only the $150 range here, not higher.

My experiment was specifically for Video recording and sound.

I think here is a place where specs/quality count.

Check out the A560, maybe this will do the job.

good luck.

Hey Stuart, I recall W Tonight now, thanks, glad you are enjoying it.

ahh..Video Camera..Not Digital Camera with video....Not much help from me. My daughter gave me( let me borrow it for life ) a Panasonic PV-GS31 which uses a digital cassette kinda tape, it can run for 90 minutes. The quality is excellent.

good luck , let us know what you got then let us see the movie !
