Sharing our skills with each other
We have so much super talent here that it seems like a waste to let it go untapped. I personally know several of members that have the ability to record at home and could be a big asset to this project.
Give it a read and see what you think. We have one member that is sending me a song to play on and we will get this thing going. He may or may not need other instruments on it and if he does he will ;pick someone else to send it to for them to add their instruments to the recording.
We will need a list of folks that are interested in doing this so we don't bug anyone with requests that do not want to participate as in Buddy Emmons getting 100's of emails asking him to play on their project.
Please don't solicit any one to record on your project that is not on the list. This is so new that so far I'm the only one on the list but if you wish to participate PM me or email me and I'll start the list and post it here or in the jobs section.

Well, that's kind of a self-serving rule then, isn't it?Bob Martin wrote:Please don't solicit any one to record on your project that is not on the list...so far I'm the only one on the list

Jim, all I meant was for folks to please not start emailing and calling folks and ask them to play on their project because of my post.
I don't want anyone getting spammed because of my thread. What I meant for folks to do is let me know if they want to participate in this project and if they do I'll post a list and and then we will have a pool of willing participants that won't mind being solicited.
The reason I'm the only one on the list is because so far there has been no interest. So if and when someone becomes interested in it I'll start a list.
Thanks for your concern.

"I wanna make my own Steel CD, would one of you play all the Steel parts for me " ?
If thats the case, I'm going into production real soon

Ok all we need now is a drummer and we can start a project. I thought I'd throw out a song or two just to get things rolling. They are not songs for professional use they are just songs to get this thing rolling. If they turn out good we'll add them to the CD project.
So someone that can play and record live drums needs to sign up I hate to use samples on this project but with that being said if we don't have any drummers willing to participate I'll do a sample drum track and send them along with the music chart to the bass player and then he can send it on from there and so on from there.

Maybe things got lost in the shuffle.
I have some nice condensor mics and tube preamps. I can do Acoustic rhythm guitar, Dobro, National Tricone, lapsteels, acoustic bass and electric bass.
Oh yea, PSG. I have an 88 key Ymaha electric piano that I could do some fill work
I do all the work on a Yamaha 2816.

new list as of 8/28/07
Here's an updated list of participants as of 8/28/07
----------------------------------------------------
1. Alan Coldiron-Bass Guitar
2. Bob Martin - Lead guitar, Tele, Strat, Roland Midi guitar adapter capable of playing almost any instrument with very high quality samples. (don't hold midi against me LOL)I use Sonar 6.21 producer edition with just about all the plugins I need and a few good condenser mics the best being a AKG C-414 vintage.
3. Tony Prior -Bass, rhythm, Tele, Strat, Les Paul
4. Jack Stoner -Luther parts on Cash songs with Tele
5. Ron Randall -nice condenser mics and tube preamps, acoustic rhythm guitar, Dobro, National Tricone, lap steels, acoustic bass (very cool) and electric bass, PSG. I have an 88 key Yamaha electric piano that I could do some fill work recorded on a Yamaha 2816 (very good machine).
6. Ken Lang -I may be able to add some keyboard to the mix.
-----------------------------------------------------
The list is growing nicely I'll give it a few more days to see if we can get a drummer if not I'm going to start it off with a couple of songs.
What I'd like to do is make sure everybody on the list gets to play on these songs.
Stay tuned for more info. By the way I am not the Dictator of this project only the starter. Please feel free to help in any way you can think. Throw out ideas and constructive suggestions I just want us to have fun with this project.
We may end up with a silk purse when we get done or it might be a sows ear but in any case we will have fun if we all participate and try our best. I am not the best guitar player in the world or even this forum
I know we can make a great song even if we are not all the top masters of out instrument.
So don't worry about your playing level whether you have been playing for a year or less or 40 years I'd like to hear from you and let me know what instrument you want to play.
Keep in mind we can have multiples of the same instruments on each song such as 4 or 5 steel's 4 or 5 guitars playing leads, pads, rhythms and so on. I hope you get the idea.

Limited Instrumental Skills
I would love to be a part of this project, however I believe this project is instrumental only...correct? Since my skill level on the pedal steel amounts to only 3 weeks and 2 days of experience...I can only offer my vocals. Please let me know. Thank you, have fun and I can't wait to hear it upon completion!

Hi Greg, thanks for the offer to participate. If this thing ever does come to fruition I don't think there will be any vocals but you never know it could take any direction that someone wanted to there are no rules. If there are any it would be have fun.
I doubt it if this thing ever does come to much anyway. There's not a lot of interest so far. I am working on a song to post here to see if Any one bites and takes it and plays on it. So we'll see what happens
