What is the second chord (first chord change) into the song? Playing in the key of A.

If that is the up-tempo song from the Christmas show, it sounds like a G to me.

I thought it was G also, when I first listened to it. After sitting down with it, I think the root is still based on A? Like maybe an Am6? I'm playing it on a U-12, so want to be able to play it straight with the E9th and inject the B6th tuning into it(eg...first chord change)
Is there a web site that I could find the chords?

Dennis,

I found a midi file of that song that I had, and got out my 6 string and found that I was wrong about the G.

The bass line is a single note pattern of:
A E A A E A
followed by
A E F# A E F#

At the first change the whole thing shifts up to:
C D C C D C
C D E C D E

That must mean that the chord progression is from A to C then back to A for the first part of the song.

Since I was a bass player and then a guitar player first, I usually end up going back there when I get stuck.

Hope this helps. Also, forget any free sheet music on this song! I did a search with WebFerrit and found nothing for free, of course it is a large web out there.

The tune is in A. I believe the first chord change after the melody begins goes to CMajor7.
The intro, then:
A A A A
A A CM7 CM7
A A CM7 CM7

If it's the Vince Guaraldi tune, Ernie is right on... Vince played it in Ab originally, so it went to B major.

I kept hearing the B note in the key of A and on the first change. Wanted to be sure of what was underneath it.

I picked up the sheet music for this song, but the bridge on the original cut is not written into the music? On the written music there is the verse and chorus. Does anyone know the bridge chord changes?

Dennis:
My whole house is in a mess, due to on-
going re-modeling, so I'm not sure which
course the tune is in, but Buddy Emmons has
the song tabbed with rythm tracks in one of
them. I think, (but don't quote me), it was
on the E9 Exposition tape.
Due to the afore-mentioned mess, I can't
put my hands on either the tape, or the tab,
so I can't be sure.

Hi Dean!
I've been wanting to find your address and write to you. I just wanted to say how nice it is to hear someone that sings like Price and plays like Emmons at the same time. Enjoyed listening to you at the Quad Cities show.
Yes, I'm looking forward to participating in both shows again next year.
I haven't had time lately to work on new material, but have a new list of tunes to work up. I have a cut of Emmons playing Linus and Lucy and I have the original cut of it. Not sure if the bridge parts are the same on both? I have to disect this soon. I'm just being lazy right now and picking brains on the forum instead of using my own. Short cuts!
