Tony Davis of Brisbane Steel Guitar Club Australia
In sad news from Brisbane, Australia Tony Davis has passed away.
He had many friends in the steel guitar world both in Australia and the USA.
He was an avid member of the forum in his younger years and enjoyed writing funny comments on here.
He was such a great friend to me when I started out on the steel in 2012. He would let me borrow his guitar when I didn't have one. He was always encouraging of my playing even if I was just starting out and sounded terrible.
I used to enjoy the jams that we would have together in the Dobro corner at Brisbane Steel Guitar Club.
He would always be there backing me up so it would sound better.
RIP Tony and thanks for everything that you have given me mate.

I always enjoyed Tony's banter with Anne Marie O'Keefe back in the day. Fun and humorous posts. RIP Mr. Davis.

I too, enjoyed Tony's superb wit and I had the great pleasure of spending some time with Tony and Lynne at The Dallas Jamboree.
Tony gave us a little Koala Bear which is still clipped to a mirror in one of our rooms at home and every time I see it I think of Tony.
We have lost a super person.
Rest peacefully dear Friend

Sad to hear of Tony's passing. Such a nice gentleman.

What a wonderful friend Tony was to so many of us on the forum. He and Lynn were going to Nashville after attending the Dallas show, so Tommy and I offered them a ride back to Nashville. We had so much fun in the car, and always did via email. Tony lost Lynn a while back, and it seems that his daughters were the thing that kept him strong. One year at the ISGA, Scotty gave us a room for the international friends who wanted to participate in a jam session. We had such a good time! Sara Jory stopped by and played John’s (can’t remember his last name, but his wife was Anne-Marie) new Zum steel! Tony was a really remarkable Dobre player! He sure was proud of his daughters and often sent me videos of their performances. He leaves behind so many friends in the Steel Guitar community. And one of our silly moments, we had Doug Roth officially named us cousins!
What a dear man, I will always remember!

Very sad to hear of Tony's passing, I would always catch up with him on my many visits to play at the Aussie Steel Guitar festival in Brisbane .... and we always enjoyed our shared sense of humour :-}
Tony was also an Australian Navy Veteran and Submariner so that was something else we shared, although I was in the New Zealand Navy, we both served in South East Asia during the same early 70' s.
RIP Tony, calm seas and a following wind mate.
