Shout out for Doug Beaumier
I got both of his C6 songbooks and they're fantastic! I can't think of a better way to learn this tuning than by learning these songs. And he has the tunes and backing tracks on his website. And he's very responsive about answering questions. Thanks, Doug!
Mullen RP D10, Peavey NV112, Hilton volume. Hound Dog reso. Piles of other stuff.

Re: Shout out for Doug Beaumier
Doug's books/CD's really helped me get back into lap steel playing after a 45 year break. They are great!
Although I almost never play in C6 (or A6 or B11) tuning anymore, I have to credit Doug with helping me get back into playing lap steel again.
I highly recommend his books/CDs!

1979, I think, when Tom Bradshaw introduced The Steel Guitarist magazine, one of the first instruction tools I read in there was written by Doug.
So around 50 yrs. helping players with the ins and outs of playing the steel guitar. Thanks for sticking with us all these years Doug!

Thanks Jerry and Michael
Yes, 1979-81, I wrote a beginner’s column for Steel Guitar World Magazine. Seems like a lifetime ago. It was pre-internet and there was very little information about steel guitar at that time. Just print media… and communication was by telephone or letters. Oh, how the world has changed!

Hi Doug - I sent you a PM; Greetings from Joliet IL. I will add to this post by saying my favorite Doug video is Power Glide, in pedal steel, and Evening in the Islands for six string non pedal steel. (I hesitate to use the word 'lap steel' for a double neck Stringmaster style guitar with legs).
