8 string lap steel capo....are there any good sounding and inexpensive options?
Looking for an 8 string lap steel capo.
What are some decent quality ones that are a bit cheaper. I know Charlies is awesome but wondering if any of the less expensive ones work well?

Doug,
I have a couple of 8 string lap steels and an 8 string weissenborn.
The operative words are “quality” and inexpensive.
Not sure, you’ll find that combo for enjoyable playing.
In my opinion, for an 8 string capo I use my Beard or my Charlie.
I have a cheaper one for 6 string practice if I’m traveling.
I don’t know of a cheap one that is advertised for 8 strings.
For anything other than home use, I’d go with the quality of the two I mentioned above or a comparably priced model.
Rob Ickes has a YouTube video comparing different types of capos you might also find helpful.

Re: 8 string lap steel capo..
I have an 8 stringer dobro with pretty wide string width and a tricone that's even wider, so I sent Charlie the measurements to be sure it's perfect for both and it is wonderful. Works fine on my lap steels too, but I don't use it for them.

the best capo I've found is to just buy another lapsteel. LMAO.
