Lots of vintage and newer Peavey amps selling lately.

I am amazed at the number of Peavey 112’s and session named peaveys and Nashville 400’s selling all over the Forum? Are most of the owners going to the newer amps offered in today’s game ? I am hoping we are not losing Members of this forum that are just tired of playing for whatever reason. Health issues(which I have) hopefully aren’t the reasons either. I have never seen as many quality Peavey electronics for sale anywhere in my life.

For me at my age it is a weight thing. I went to a light speaker and cabinet and a Quilter Tone Block 202.
My Nashville 400 never leaves the house any more.
I like the sound and power of the Nashville 400, But to much weight. If I had a house band job with good security I would take it and leave it.

WEIGHT,WEIGHT…as we age … love my Nashville 112, but the newer Boss Katana 100 is lighter and easier on the back as I am still playing gigs. We mic everything in the band so the sound system pushes out the volume when required.

Yes I agree 100% gentlemen! But what about the sound difference? I really like the Peaveys and big Fenders the best when it comes to having to cut through all the smoke. I wish there was a way to actually tell the difference in sound either way and know exactly which was the very best sound between the new and the vintage? Interesting! I really want my sound to be perfect and we know there is no such thing. I guess in time there won’t be many old amps around anymore. Everyone hears something different than each other. I guess it really doesn’t matter as long as the sound is anywhere close if not better either brand chosen?

Quilter has done a great job of replicating the Fender sound at half the weight of a tube amp, that's why my Vibroverb is for sale. After the first hernia surgery one takes steps to avoid a second.

It's all true. Not much need for an amp the size of a Frigidaire and there hasn't been for some time, but there was just something too-cool-for-school about acres and acres of grillcloth!

What a shame. The premier builder of steel guitar amplifiers and the ultimate in steel guitar amplification and you can hardly give one away these days.

IMO, if they hadn't gone to much heavier cabinet materials in later years, they might still be in use more.

The early ones were quite a bit less weightier.
