Replacement tone pots for my Fender dual professional

Post by Ryan Forster »

So my tone pot on my fender dual professional is biting the dust and I need to find a replacement. I love that old boo wah effect of jerry Byrd and speedy west and want to make sure I replace it with something that delivers that. Does anyone know where I can purchase one , I’ve looked online but wondering if someone who has done this knows where I can buy it. I’ve been told 250K is the way to go but also it needs to not be super stiff so I can easily move it with my pinky. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Ryan

I generally use CTS pots. If the boo wah is important to you, maybe consider using a 500k linear instead of 250K, then leaving it set halfway up. You then effectively have a 250K pot with only half the sweep to full tone cut.

Ok thanks, people mention a 1 Meg 0.05 cap? Not sure about what that is as I am not an expert on this stuff but are the CTS pots rated at that?

The 1 meg part is the pot resistance value same as 1000k you can certainly go that high if you want, the full on sound will be brighter than with a 250k or 500k.
The 0.05 cap is the capacitor you fit to it

Thanks for the clarification, I’ll order the 250K volume/tone pots you mentioned.
