recording direct....
So here are a couple of tracks where everything was recorded direct thru a DBX 376 channel strip, EQ printed to the track. Recording direct, just like mic'ing, requires patience and , well..more patience.
If you are using a quality front end preamp or channel strip with 4 band para EQ you may find you really LIKE the results. These days, for me, everything now goes thru the DBX 376.
Yes, some EQ tweaking at the end and the final mix/master was done specifically for a Soundcloud Transcoding to MP3. Nothing on the spectrum above 16K and cuts at around 75Hz.
Soundcloud does not transcode anything above 16K and the bottom end is at risk. Lots of net discussion about this these days...

Hi Rick Thx for the comments ! Nahh. Workin on the Back went thru many iterations, it was written maybe 2 years ago and JH , as good as he is , was not an influence and he didn't come over to the house to sing it either !

When I was recording with Cleat Wooley, he would always hook me up going, into a DI box, and into the mixer. I didn't care much for that. Because, I could get what I thought to be a good sound. The recording when it was complete, was sent off where another engineer would put in the reverb and the delay, on my parts in the mix. I prefer bringing my amp and using my effects. That way I knew it done right.

What does that mean, "that way I know it's done right " ?
