I have heard about (not yet seen) a guitar for sale as follows:
Fender 6 string lap steel, 2 pickups, 2 control knobs plus pickup blend knob, vertical tuners, probably from the 1970s.
Any ideas on what model this may be (the only catalog I have shows a Deluxe which fits the description), reasonable price, anything to watch out for? (I've seen comments on here suggesting the strings may be closely spaced, or close to the fingerboard...).
Any and all comments welcomed.
Thanks in advance
Nick
PS: initial asking price but very much open to discussion, apparently, is approx. US$425

Nick:
According to your description, it is a Deluxe 6. Does it have legs? If not, that lowers the value somewhat. Also, check to see it includes the bridge cover (they're often missing). As for the price, for a Deluxe 6 in excellent shape, $425 is not hugely expensive, although I think you can probably find one cheaper with a little hunting (I got one in very good condition, but with a damaged case last summer for $350 Canadian, or about $240 U.S.). A great instrument, and the single-sixes don't come along that often.
String spacing on the six-string Fenders is wider than the 8-strings, about the same as a Valco or Gibson. Offer $350!
