Which E 13th tuning to use?

I recently got a double neck, I already have C 6th on the inside neck and I'm pretty sure I want to go with an E 13th on the outside neck. The only problem - Which one? It seems there is a bunch of variations. G# on top, the one with and E on the 5th sting, the one where this lower E is skipped. I looking for a more "country" sound on this neck.

What are the advantages of each of these? I'm pretty sure I'm going with the G# on top, I think.

I use the same one that Helms and Wiggens used. High to low: G# E C# B G# E D B You can get some pretty cool country sounds out of this tuning. (Actually, more often than not, I have the low D tuned up to C#, giving an E6 tuning). I have McAuliffe's E13 on another neck. High to low: E C# B G# F# D G# E I can't hear any country sounds in this at all, but it has some nice pop/jazz sounds.
Do a search for Tom Morrell and/or Rickie Davis. There have been some posts about the tuning they use. You might find it useful.

I use the same variation as Rich for the same reasons. It's real easy to get the Hank Williams type stuff, it's easy to solo on, and also is cool for Rockabilly and Swing stuff. Also there is some instructional material on this tuning. I find the McAullife E13 harder to get around on and have mainly used it as a strum tuning.

I played that tuning for over 20 years. It's very natural for Hank Williams songs and other old country, and the positions translate well to E9th pedal steel.
