PT 9 and Presonus hardware??

Post by Scott Henderson »

I am thinking of going to PT 9 and the presonus FP10. I don't have a huge need for multi mic inputs but on occasion which is why I am only going with the smaller unit. Has anybody worked recently with these. I know in 2010 PT 9 and Presonus had some issue but haven't heard in reviews lately...Appreciate any thoughts..

Scotty, I can't help you with PT, but I've had an FP10 for several years. I use it daily - trouble-free and excellent fidelity. But if it won't work with PT, that doesn't help you very much. :)

This is what the Presonus site says. It's a general statement so I would still check with Presonus on the FP10.
With the release of ProTools 9, ProTools now works with PreSonus hardware. Make sure all the newest PreSonus drivers and the newest version of ProTools are installed for best results. Please note: Pro Tools 9 is only compatible with Mac OSX 10.6 or later and Windows 7. If your computer is not running one of these operating systems, you will not be able to install ProTools 9 to use with a PreSonus interface.

I went to a seminar/sales pitch from presonus at Morgan Music in Lebanon MO the other night. Mike I agree I had read and they confirmed that the FP 10 is a nono with PT. However they have a new unit I believe it is the 18 x 18 that is a single rack space with 8 preamps and MIDI which is a big thing for me. I think I am going that direction including the required upgrade to PT9. I think PT is finally letting go of a little of their exclusivity. I don't need multi tracking often but when I do I want to have it. Ernie Reed has the new 16 channel board and loves it and has no problem interfacing with PT9 so I guess I'm sold. Your endorsement of the presonus equipment is just icing on the cake cause I have always liked your sound buddy...Thanks to you and Jack both...
