Molly Bee
I met her in California at the Cliffie Stone Jamboree , I was with Lefty Frizzell in 1954 . Molly was a very pretty girl about eleven or twelve years old and had a great big voice. Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant were in the staff band and Tenn Ernie was a regular on the show.
Music to light up your life

Here's a lip-synch video of her with Red Rhodes. Anyone know who the other guys are?

And a montage set to "Right Or Left At Oak Street", with Jay Dee, with the great tone he got playing a P/P and Standel amp in 1974.

It is sad to hear of Molly Bee's passing.
I was in California when she was making a name for herself , and got to meet her several times..She did lots of shows at Cliffes Stones Hometown Jamboree in El Monte, with Speedy and Jimmy, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Ferlin Husky, Smokey Rogers, and others.
I was there when they had an 'official hair-cutting' ceremony. She had loooonnnngggg pigtails, and they snipped off quite a bit of it.It was on the local TV in San Diego..
I last saw her in Norfolk,Virginia, at the Oceana Naval Air Station, while I was in training there.I went over to the CPO Club to see who was playing that week-end. I was told it was some girl from California..Molly Bee.
So I waited awhile for her to come in to rehearse, and had the opportunity to visit with her, and talk about the music scene in California.
So sad..all the artists listed above ,except Mr Ferlin, have gone on...
Buck.I may have seen you at Cliffes, with Lefty..Don't remember , but I saw Lefty there two or three times.
May Miss Molly rest in eternal peace..Thank you for the visiting, and for your music.

Sorry about MB.I was nort aware of it until i just now read the post.I recall meeting her in Pasadena in 1952 i believe it was.
I was never sure about it being in Pasadena until now.I was very young my self, young and new to Ca.
I do not remember what my self and some other musicians were doing there. The thing i remember most is the big friendly smile Speedy West had,and he was very friendly.I do not recall Jimmy Bryant or any of the others who were there.
I was playing fiddle some where in No.Hollywood some tine later and Jimmy Bryant came and set in with us.He played my fiddle some and he was great on that also.
I played simple rhtyhm on his guitar while he played my fiddle.
This great forum has brought back some wonderful memories over the years.Tracy

Ya know, I remember very well watching Molly every Saturday night on "Town Hall Party." She was maybe 10 years of age, and always wore that little dress with the hearts all over it. Meryle Travis, Joe Maphis, and "Pig" on piano, just to name a few. Oh, and the Collins kids. I watched the U-Tube video and thought it was really good. I had almost forgot what a good country band looks like. My God,,, can you imagine; Not a t-shirt in sight, no pants with holes in them, no long hair... Where has country gone? It was also good to see Red again, in my twenties when I was actually entertaining, I would go to the "Palomino" club every Saturday night, for a while there. It was easy because I lived in Burbank.
There's a lot of rememberance going on right now, and like most of you, I could probably go on forever. My days with Eddie Dean, Johnny Bond, Freddie Hart, and so on and so forth.
I'll just say; That while they were here we all so enjoyed their music and talent. God bless them all. As far as I know Freddie Hart is still living.
God Bless Molly Bee, and her entire family. May she rest in peace knowing all who loved her, will miss her very much.

My formal name is "Fred" but, I've always been called "Rick". Peavey Sessions 400. Peavey Duel Delta Fex. Korg DT-1 Pro Digital Tuner. D2F covers. And proud to say that Chuck Back is my friend.
