Nice job, Bob. In my opinion, the kick drum is too loud... or the other BIAB instruments are too low. I hear very little bass. I would crank the bass and cut back on the drums. You're on the right track (no pun).
Bob. Try only using the drum track. Go back a take a REAL electric bass and put that on. The bass track that is on there now is playing virtually all tonics. A little I and V in the bass and just a bit more movement will work better with the long linear melody of the song. I don't like the electric guitar. It fights the steel in the same sonic area and is not adding anything rhythm wise. I would suggest your standard acoustic guitar hard panned left and a high string guitar on the right just playing your official Nashville 1/8th note rhythm strum. That will give you all the rhythm bed you need. Bring up the level of the steel and add a nice vintage EMT plate verb if you have a plug in that gives you a plate verb.
Your steel has a good sound. It should be up more in the mix and supported better. I think you could really make this a better sounding track. It has a lot of potential.
When you start to record your own tracks, it really makes you appreciate a well done pro sounding track and all the hard work that goes into it.

Hi Bob, I took the liberty of downloading your tune and had go at doing a remix , bearing in mind that I only had your mix and not the backing track and the steel track . I think that you only need to get the mix right for it to sound good as your playing is very good. Maybe if you drop the steel deeper into the mix it would sound more balanced.. anyway let me know what you think... you can download it from my site. Playing direct through small computer speakers is challenging, tone and playing wise!
I need to get some better monitors and maybe even a small amp instead of going direct!

I am going into a Genesis 3 and see I only have delay in the patch. I think I added a little verb in Sonar but will try a little more. I try to not use too much if I am going to err!
