sounds in wrong key

Post by Al Marcus »

When I record a song and play it back, it plays (sounds) one whole tone lower. Like I play and record in A and play it back it is G. Anyone know why that should happen?? Thanks..:(:(

Al,

If you are using something digital, you are probably recording at 48khz and playing back at 44.1khz. The samples are clean but slower. Check the clock on the software and make sure that your clock rates are in sync.

Tony-Thanks,I am using a software program. "Polderbilts" to record right now.

Mark-Thanks,I'll see if I can check that out. I might try other software programs, but it does the same thing in Band In a Box which is Midi....al

I played it in Audacity and it did the same thing. I am afraid I will have to call Best Buy and see what they can do, I might have to put in a new soundcard. they have this RealTek program with HP that takes over the sounds . I have Window Meda Player that plays most of my Music. I hate Winamp, it just takes over in so many ways. So I dont hear Scottys Steel Radio anymore , as it takes Winamp. and I wont use that anymore. Is there another program to listen Steel radio with?? Thanks Guys for all the help...al.:):)

Two free programs that can be used to listen to Steel Radio are VLC Media Player and Media Player Classic.

Will-Thanks, I'll find those and get to use them. I am glad I won't have to use Winamp anymore. That is quite a Website you got there, and quite a Bio. Happy Thanksgiving...al.:):):)

Solved! Realtek HD Audio Manager is the sound card that came with the computer. I checked it out before but never had the Kareoke screen. I never used it, it said Key, so singers can adjust, and it said -2. So when I played my songs or CD's they always played a whole tone lower. Weird.

So end of story and a lot of time and frustration, and thanks to all you guys for trying to help...al.:):):)

I would have gone with the 48k / 41k check.

And NEVER woulda thought it was 'The Karioke settings"
Just bizarre.
Glad you got it sorted out.

Thanks Al!
I was just talking to Jody this morning, he's doing okay - although still a little stiff and sore from his lower back operation.
Why don't you give him a call, I'm sure he would love to hear from you. :)
