DigiTech Harmonizer?

Has anyone tried the new DigiTech harmonizer. Someone told me that the new one out works off the guitar (instead of midi or programming it) and never fails to get the right chord parts. Has anyone here had any experience with it?

Buddy, I played a duo last week with my friend who used one. I was completely amazed! It sounded VERY good, no discernible glitches, very natural. JP

I have a Digitech vocalist performer, about 5 years old, that harmonizes in 3rds and 5ths above as well as below, if ou choose. It also doubles. Never had any problems with it.

I have used the older Digitech harmonizers and several other manufacturer's harmonizers that used midi code (or programming) to determin harmony notes. I continually had problems with the machine misreading or misinterpreting the midi code with a resulting harmony that was not right. I hear that the new DigiTech harmonizers work with guitar (no midi). You just plug the guitar and the mic into the unit. The unit figures the harmony from the guitar chord. From what I've heard so far it more reliably interprets the notes played on the guitar and converts them into harmony notes that are more relialbly correct. I'm just checking to see if others have used these new Digitech units with guitar and how reliable they are.

Buddy, the guy I played with is a total idiot as regards technology. The harmonys that were generated were right on, real sounding, and must have been easy to dial in, because Andy, friend that he may be, couldn't change a string without my help, much less figure out how to work a harmonizer. Very impressive product! JP

I've been using one of the table top VHM5 units for over 10 years, & it has uses & limitations, there are times when it is useful to dial in the relative minor by selecting the fifth from the root (not sure I am explaining this correctly).

so my question: Has anyone tried any of the new units with Bass Guitar, if so does it track alright? Do you need to adjust the way you play for it to track correctly? Any thoughts in general on using one with Bass guitar?
