How does a George L's E-66 compare in size to a P-90? Maybe a straight out swap or not......Thanks in advance! Jim

Keep in mind that an E66 is pretty thick and if surface mounting, as opposed to mounting in a pickup cavity like in a pedal steel, it my not fit under the strings. I rebuilt an old lap steel for an ex-wife's mother, and installed a P90. It's been a while, but i think the height of it is less than pickups made for pedal steels, like the E66. Hopefully someone with an E66 will supply the height dimension for you. I got rid of my E66 years ago. I do know the Bill Lawrence pickups I use (similar size to George L pickups) probably won't work as a surface mount pickup for lap steel.

Here are the dimensions provided by George L's of all the pickups they USED to build.
