Try the VP after the ToneX? That way you can leave the Input Trim right where it is with your guitar plugged straight into the ToneX and use the VP as a master volume. Double check the meter reading with the BB in front of the ToneX. And try VP into FX return instead of power amp. Make sure cab sims are off in the profile settings.
